Explanation
The Harm Gate (Shang Men) belongs to Yang Wood, with its original palace in Zhen 3rd Palace, located in the East. Its nature, like thunder and wood, is sharp and active, hence it signifies harm, conflict, competition, and demands. Its symbolic meanings include external injuries, surgery, car accidents, collisions, debt collection, claims, fishing, hunting, sports, fitness, construction, and logging. In terms of personnel, it represents drivers, athletes, surgeons, and debt collectors. As an inauspicious gate, its auspiciousness and inauspiciousness vary with its interaction with the palace it falls into: When it falls into Kun 2nd or Gen 8th Earth Palaces, Wood overcomes Earth, creating a 'gate being oppressed' situation, intensifying its inauspiciousness, leading to more severe harm and conflict; When it falls into Qian 6th or Dui 7th Metal Palaces, it is restrained by Metal, and its inauspiciousness is slightly mitigated; When it falls into Kan 1st Water Palace, it is nourished by Water, and its harmful nature becomes stronger; When it falls into Li 9th Fire Palace, Wood generates Fire, draining its energy, and its harmful power slightly decreases; When it falls into Zhen 3rd or Xun 4th Wood Palaces, it is in harmony, and its true nature is fully expressed. In terms of prosperity and decline, the Harm Gate is prosperous in spring, flourishing in winter, and weak in summer and autumn. When prosperous or flourishing, its power to cause harm is great; when weak, it mostly indicates minor damage or bumps. In terms of auspiciousness and inauspiciousness, it is a moderately inauspicious gate, but for debt collection, hunting, competition, and apprehending fugitives, using it can be effective. The ancients believed that hunting with the Harm Gate would surely yield results. Precautions: When the Harm Gate encounters Geng or Baihu, the signs of conflict and bloodshed are intensified. If encountered during travel, beware of injuries from vehicles or horses; if it co-occurs with auspicious stars and stems and its palace is restrained, its inauspiciousness can be largely resolved.
