When Heavenly Stem Geng (庚) is over Earthly Stem Gui (癸), the inauspicious metal falls into the Heavenly Net, binding all progress, hence it is called Great Obstruction. Among the ten Heavenly Stem formations, Geng formations are considered inauspicious, and Geng over Gui is the greatest of these, thus its name. The principle of its formation: Geng metal generates Gui water, causing its energy to leak, and Gui water, like a net, entangles the metal, causing its inauspicious nature to repeatedly manifest in place, leading to stagnant and unmoving affairs. Ancient interpretations state that travelers will not arrive and lawsuits will not cease. One not arriving and one not ceasing are two sides of this formation: what should come does not, and what should end does not. It also warns of harm to both mother and child during childbirth, making it a major taboo for pregnancy. The inauspiciousness is deep and long-lasting, a 'dragging-down' type of inauspicious formation. When interpreting, consider the palace and the door star: if it falls in the Kan Palace, where water is strong and the net is dense, the confinement is most severe; if it falls in the Gen or Kun Earth Palaces, earth restrains water, breaking the net, offering a chance for release. Forcing it along the original path will only lead to tighter entanglement.

For those employed, projects are deadlocked, and the more departments involved, the harder it is to push forward.
