"When Lost Spirit receives the overcoming force of the year and I am able to subdue it, only then is it considered tamed. It can then serve as the day master’s wealth, office and noble qi, or come to generate and assist the day master, indicating great wealth and high rank. When Lost Spirit is in the Changsheng (Long-Life) position and also carries other positions of the day branch, rank and stipends soar and manifest early. When Lost Spirit enters the Official position but falls into Void-and-Death, it instead turns auspicious. If the heavenly stem can further generate the day master, although this signifies the nobility of riding in carriages and wearing ceremonial caps, there will still be two or three parts of indulgence in wine and sensual pleasure."
Lost Spirit is a dual-natured auxiliary star that can be either inauspicious or auspicious, with the key lying in its position in the chart and its combinations. Traditionally, Lost Spirit governs matters of death and disaster; over the course of life one is prone to various calamities and accidents and must pay special attention to safety and protection. If aided and transformed by noble stars, its energy can be redirected toward martial authority, making one suited to careers in the military, police and other power-related roles.
