Unfavorable marriage; emotional loneliness
Gu Luan Sha mainly signifies marital disharmony and emotional loneliness. Those whose chart carries Gu Luan Sha are prone to late marriage, difficulty in getting married, or disharmony after marriage, with cold feelings between husband and wife. It is especially inauspicious in a woman’s chart, indicating poor affinity with her husband and an easy tendency toward widowhood; in a man’s chart it also points to weak affinity with the wife.
According to Wan Minying of the Ming dynasty in *San Ming Tong Hui · General Discussion of Various Shen Sha*, it is recorded:
“An ancient song says: When Wood and Fire meet the Snake, it is greatly inauspicious; why must the Metal Pig act so wildly rampant? For the Earth Monkey and Wood Tiger, where is the husband? At such times the lonely luan bird dances a solitary dance. These are the days Yi-Si, Ding-Si, Xin-Hai, Wu-Shen, Jia-Yin, and also Bing-Wu, Wu-Wu, and Ren-Zi; for men they overcome the wife, for women they overcome the husband.”
The ancient verse vividly describes the characteristics of Gu Luan Sha; phrases such as “Where is the husband?” hint that the bond with one’s spouse is weak. Gu Luan Sha is a star of disharmony between Yin and Yang, chiefly indicating harm to husband or wife:
It symbolizes loneliness and misfortune in one’s emotional life, like a solitary luan bird dancing alone.
In modern society, those whose chart contains Gu Luan Sha may need to put in more effort in matters of love. While it is advisable to cultivate an independent character, one must also learn to manage relationships and communicate more, so as to avoid excessive aloofness that harms interpersonal relationships.
